WebAs an owner/occupant, your priorities are different. You can live in the house and fix things over years, if needed. But for that to work, you need the house to be secure, the roof not leak, and a working bathroom, at a minimum. I don't see much of this info on reddit, but certainly it is all available online, such as on YouTube.

Apparently you can save ~25% on the total cost of your house by hiring sub-contractors and doing all the planning, ordering, permitting, etc (not the actual labor). WebThere are several systems I can recommend, Home Assistant, SmartThings, Hubitat, OpenHab, Google Home and HomeKit. I don't know anything about you but I'm going to guess you're willing to put some work into this since you have the ability to do it from scratch. Google Home and HomeKit are both the easiest options.
